Easter and Birthday Party All In One
It was a great weekend. The entire family celebrated Easter and Sarah's 5th birthday at Krista & Doug's, except Kim who had her neck vein surgery on the Thursday before, and John stayed at home with her. She is doing very well now, her throat doesn't hurt very much anymore and, as of yesterday, she can now talk without sounding like she has a frog in her throat. While she is on sick leave from Disney, she's going to try to get everything fixed. Her next project is seeing an ortho dr this Friday about setting up surgery for her carpel tunnel in her left hand.
I stayed at Krista's on Fri thru the end of the birthday celebration on Sunday, then I went to Kim's for another couple of days. I had a chance to spend some time with Sarah, and I have a couple of Sarah stories to tell. She will be in Kindergarten in the fall, and can write her name in print, except that she makes the S going backward (starting it on the left). So she did that for me, and I decided to see what other letters she knew how to make. I said can you make a B ? She shook her head no, so I proceeded to make one for her to copy. I just had gotten halfway through the letter, like this: P, and she said 'that's a P'. I said yes, I know, but I'm not finished yet. So I finished the letter B and I could actually see a light in her eyes, like she had actually digested this. So we made several B's, and then I took the next letters, 1 at a time; I made one and she copied it. We only got to the I, and then distractions occurred. But the next day, when all her birthday presents were opened and played with, she said to me 'Do you want to come to my room and play'? I gladly said yes, and she proceeded to lead me to her room. On the way, she turned her head back to look at me and said 'Let's go make some B's!" I thought that was pretty cute. We made plenty of B's. This blog is getting too long, I will publish more about the Easter visit tomorrow.
